According to Webster, the definition of ‘memorial’ is “an object or event which serves as a focus for memory of an individual or happening.” There’s great value in remembering special people or events. It reminds us to value our experiences; it brings comfort to know that others have loved and helped us; it causes us to re-direct our efforts in ways that will add lasting significance to the lives of those around us. And if we don’t set aside designated time for remembering, it can too easily fall by the wayside.
That’s why Berlin Raceway will host a Memorial Race this year as part of their 60th Anniversary celebration. So many great folks have added color to the rich history of Berlin and we treasure their contribution by remembering them. They, of course, live on in our memories. This one night we will pause to cherish the importance of what they have done. Human beings seek to be remembered. We will esteem our old friends by honoring them this one night at the race track they treasured – Berlin Raceway.
